Configuring Dialing Rules – Sending Internal Faxes

Welcome to the RightFax Resource Center. Today I will be showing you how to configure RightFax Dialing Rules to send internal faxes.

For this example, let’s assume our RightFax system is configured to route inbound faxes based on the last 4 digits of the fax number. If one person wanted to send a document to another through RightFax and there was no dialing rule in place, the fax would tie up 2 channels and have to route the fax through the PSTN. With a “Receive Into” dialing rule in place, the fax would be immediately routed to the destination inbox, bypassing the phone system and potentially reducing costs.

1. From Enterprise Fax Manager, right click on Dialing Rules and select “New”
   • You should now see the Rule Edit dialog box appear
2. On the Matching tab, enter the regex pattern into the Pattern field
   • For our example we are routing inbound faxes based off of the last 4 digits so enter 4 question marks.
3. Click on the Destination tab and select “Receive into Fax Server”. Next, select the fax server where you would like to receive faxes
   • PRO TIP: To make your rules portable
4. Click OK
5. Finally, go to File > Edit > Save Dialing Plan
   • This step is not required for RightFax 16.X and later

Your Dialing Rule is complete. Now if a user dials the routed digit number, RightFax will automatically receive that as an internal fax.
