Text Transcript

Welcome to the RightFax Resource Center. Today I will be showing you how to configure the RightFax Sync module to send and receive routed faxes as a PDF. This can be useful for organizations that want to standardize document delivery workflows.

To change the route type to PDF, we are going to need to update the Sync Module transform file.

Just a quick cautionary note, the transform file is an xml file that must remain “well structured.” This means that if there are any issues with the tagging, it will not work. Always make a backup of the file before editing and be careful not to accidentally delete or modify any of the tags.

To begin, let’s start in Enterprise Fax Manager directly on the RightFax Application Server. (If you try to open it remotely you will get an error.)

  1. Go to Services and right-click on the RightFax Sync Module
  2. Select Configure Service
  3. Highlight the Mapping that you would like to update
  4. Select Edit to open the Sync Mapping window
  5. Locate “Transform File” entry in the middle of the screen
  6. Select Edit…
    • If your system does not have a default editor for XSL files, use Notepad
  7. From here, search for the word “RouteFormat”
    • The default value for RouteFormat is 2 and you can see from the note that TIFF = 2
    • The RouteFormat value for PDF is 5 so we will change the 2 here to a 5
  8. To ensure the documentation is correct, let’s update the note
    • change TIFF to PDF
    • and the 2 to a 5
  9. From here, save the file

Now, anytime the sync module runs, new users will have their document route format set to PDF. It will also update any existing users who are part of the sync and set their route format to PDF.
